25 August 2021, Calgary – The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary successfully held a passport outreach in Regina, Saskatchewan, on 17-19 August 2021.
During the three-day outreach, the PCG processed a total of 694 passport applicants. The PCG also administered the oath of Philippine citizenship of 52 applicants who previously sent their applications by mail to the PCG office in Calgary.
“We were able to process many passport applications in Regina because our applicants used the online passport appointment system that now allows us to finish a passport application in 10-15 minutes,” Consul General Zaldy Patron said about the passport outreach. On the average, the PCG processed 231 passport applications each day in Regina.
According to Consul General Patron, the PCG will focus its outreach activities this year for passport services to address the high demand for passport because for 16 months the PCG was forced to limit the number of applicants in its office in Calgary as it complied with the Alberta-wide public health restrictions to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In June 2021, the PCG also processed more than 1,000 passport applications in Edmonton, Alberta, during a back-to-back passport outreach that lasted for a total of six days. END.
