Calgary, 18 July 2022 – The first-ever Philippine Trade Expo in Alberta, Canada, opened on 15 July 2022 in West Edmonton Mall (WEM) - the largest mall in the Western Hemisphere in terms of the number of stores (over 800 occupants).
The successful three-day Philippine Trade Expo in WEM ended on 17 July to the satisfaction of consumers who were treated to the various Philippine handcrafted products, such as Christmas decor ornaments, Capiz parol (Christmas lanterns), wooden nativities, ladies fashion jewelry and accessories, handbags, and purses. Also showcased were Filipiniana dress, Barong Tagalog (traditional and coat), tops, gowns, seasonal wear, bamboo and wood products, abaca footwear, home decor, and other specialty food products.
Complementing the trade exhibit during the three-day event were cultural performances and fashion shows by various Filipino organizations and individual performers.
The Philippine Trade Expo Roadshow is a joint project of the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary and the Edmonton-based not-for-profit organization Filipino Canadian Trade Expo and Mission (FCTEM).
“I wish to thank the FCTEM, the exhibitors, the sponsors, the performers, and the volunteers who took part in the first-ever Philippine Trade Expo that was held in WEM. This event aims to promote the export quality handicrafts and other products made by Philippine-based small and medium enterprises,” Consul General Zaldy Patron said.
The PCG will host the second leg of the Philippine Trade Expo on 5-7 August at the PCG’s Dr. José Rizal Hall. The final leg will be held at the Cornwall Centre Mall in Regina, Saskatchewan, on 12-14 August 2022. END.
