5 August 2021, Calgary – Consul General Zaldy Patron graced the Leadership Community Potluck initiated and organized by various Filipino community associations in Alberta on 1 August 2021 in Banff.
Co-organizing the event were the Filipino-Canadian (FORM) Community Associations in the Rockies, Okotoks Fil-Can Society, Filipino-Canadian Association of Community in Edson, Wetaskiwin Filipino Community Foundation, Spruce Grove Stony Plain Filipino Canadian Association, Filipino Airdrie Association, and Canmore Filipino Canadian Society. They gathered for a lunch picnic and sharing of experiences on how they can strengthen their respective organizations.
The members of the solidarity group have been assisting each other and their respective communities, especially during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. They agreed to continue to work together for important projects of the Filipino community in Alberta.
During the formal program, Consul General Patron explained the latest developments on the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary’s consular services, including its appointment systems for passport and non-passport services.
Likewise, he met with the Filipino associations one by one and answered their specific queries about Post’s consular services.
Consul General Patron also gave an update on the status of the Rizal Monument Project in Airdrie, Alberta, which the PCG is undertaking in partnership with the Airdrie City Council, Filipino Airdrie Association, and the Rizal Monument Project Team.
