9 July 2021, Calgary – With the support of 22 major sponsors and the participation of 56 golf players, the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary, Filipino Airdrie Association (FAA), and PCG-led Rizal Monument Project Team (RMPT) successfully held the 1st ConGen Cup Golf Tournament on 2 July 2021 at Woodside Golf Course in Airdrie, Alberta.
The golf tournament was the main fund raiser for the installation of the Rizal Monument in Airdrie’s Nose Creek Regional Park.
The Rizal Monument project, a joint undertaking of the PCG, Airdrie City Council, FAA, and RMPT, is expected to be completed in October 2021.
“I wish to thank all the major sponsors and players as well as all the organizers and volunteers who took part in the 1st ConGen Cup for making the golf tournament a success. The successful outcome of the tournament brings us closer to realizing our goal of installing the first Rizal Monument in Alberta,” said Consul General Zaldy Patron about the event.
