The Post refers
to ZCY-93-2019, dated 30 October 2019, and wishes to thank the Department for
approving its request for budget for the Paskong
Pilipino 2019.
Post
successfully organized the event on 15 December 2019 at the Marlborough Park
Community Center in Calgary in cooperation with the Philippine Cultural Centre
Foundation (PCCF), Tamaraw Seniors Club of Calgary (TSCC), Golden Generation
Seniors Club (GGSC), Young Once Seniors Association of Calgary (YOSAC), New
Canadian Seniors Association of Calgary (New CASA) and Calgary Immigrant
Women’s Association (CIWA). CIWA runs a Filipino Community Development Program.
About 230
Filipinos came to the three-hour celebration that featured Filipino food as
well as Christmas carols, solo renditions and dances. One of the event’s highlights
was the announcement of winners of the parol
making contest who made use of indigenous and recycled materials.
In my
remarks, I conveyed my Christmas greetings for the community and shared with them
the major accomplishments of the Post this year in terms of delivering consular
services and promoting cultural and economic diplomacy. I also informed the community about the Commission
of Filipinos Overseas’ 2020 Presidential Awards for Outstanding Individuals and
Organizations Overseas, the campaign for overseas voters registration, and the 2021
Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines.
Attached
is a copy of the Post’s press release for the event. It would be appreciated if
OSCR could upload it to the DFA’s website and social media sites.
For the
Department’s information and appropriate action.
ZALDY B. PATRON
Consul
General
