2020, Calgary – The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary has launched
a new passport online appointment system (OAS) that will make it easier and
quicker for Filipinos in the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan in Canada to
apply for Philippine passports.
During his
guesting at the
Facebook broadcast of Pinoy TV
Special, a Calgary-based media program, on 14 November 2020, Philippine
Consul General to Calgary Zaldy Patron explained the PCG’s new OAS.
Consul General Patron said that since 25
October 2020, passport appointments at the PCG for 23 November 2020 onward must
be done using the new OAS, which can be found at www.passport.gov.ph.
Consul General Patron discussed in
details the features and advantages of the new OAS as well as the steps for
making the online appointment.
The new OAS, according to him, allows the passport applicants to choose their appointments more than a month in advance. The applicants themselves will accomplish the passport application form online, which is later printed with a barcode. When the applicant comes to the PCG, the barcode is scanned which will automatically show the applicant’s details. The applicant’s biometrics are taken afterward.
“The PCG has introduced a new online
appointment system so we can make passport application more convenient for the
Filipinos in Alberta and Saskatchewan, which are under the PCG’s jurisdiction. With a quicker passport processing, we hope
that we will be able to eventually process more applicants on a daily basis,”
said Consul General Patron.
