CONSUL GENERAL PATRON LEADS FORMATION OF THREE KNIGHTS OF RIZAL CHAPTERS IN ALBERTA, CANADA

Calgary, 29 March 2023 – Philippine Consul General Zaldy Patron has led the formation of three new chapters of the Knights of Rizal (KOR) in Calgary, Airdrie, and Edmonton in the Province of Alberta, Canada.

Twenty-five (25) KOR members took their oath during the knighting ceremony that Consul General Patron hosted on 25 March 2023 at the Dr. José Rizal Hall of the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary.

Consul General Patron coordinated for several months with the KOR Central Canada Region (CCR) and the KOR Supreme Council to establish the three KOR Chapters.

“We look at the three new Knights of Rizal Chapters in Alberta as our natural partners in propagating the nationalism and idealism of Dr. José Rizal within the Filipino community in Alberta. The KOR can also support the community activities to be held at the Dr. José Rizal Monument in Airdrie,” said Consul General Patron.

The Rizal Monument in Nose Creek Regional Park in Airdrie, Alberta, was a project initiated and led by the PCG in partnership with the Airdrie City Council, Filipino Airdrie Association, and the Rizal Monument Project Team (RMPT). Consul General Patron also formed and headed the RMPT during the undertaking of the Rizal Monument Project.

“I commend and congratulate Consul General Sir Zaldy Patron for having initiated the unprecedented chartering of three new KOR Chapters in Alberta, Canada, with the knighting of 25 new members,” remarked KOR Supreme Council Trustee Sir Ferdinand Suba, who came all the way from New York City, USA, to administer the knighting ceremony in Calgary.

Six (6) officers of KOR CCR from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, also helped in the knighting ceremony.

“The KOR Central Canada Region is thankful for the opportunity given to us to help organize our newest chapters here in Alberta,” said Sir Romy Sinajon, Regional Commander, KOR CCR.

KOR is a civic, patriotic, cultural, non-partisan, non-sectarian, and non-profit organization that traces its beginning in 1911. It has been officially recognized by the Republic of the Philippines since the passage of Republic Act 646 on 14 June 1951.
