30 June 2021, Calgary – More than 1,000 passport applicants benefitted from the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary’s back-to-back passport outreach missions in Edmonton, Alberta, on 22-24 June and 27-29 June 2021.
The PCG’s two outreach missions were the first in the last 15 months as the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the PCG from undertaking any outreach missions during the period.
With the Province of Alberta under Stage 2 of its Open for Summer Plan and the vaccination rate in the province increasing, the PCG decided to resume its outreach missions.
“We chose Edmonton as the site of our back-to-back passport outreach missions since the city hosts the second largest Filipino community in Alberta after Calgary. With the applicants now using our online passport appointment system that allows the PCG to process passport applications faster than before, we are glad to have processed more than 1,000 passport applications in six days in Edmonton,” Consul General Zaldy Patron said about the successful activity of the PCG.
The PCG also administered the oath of 13 applicants who retained and reacquired their Philippine citizenship under RA 9225.
Meanwhile, the Office of the SSS Representative was able to attend to 48 clients during the second leg of the passport outreach.
Public health safety measures were observed throughout the two passport outreach missions. END
