17 March 2021, Calgary – The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary has congratulated Mr. Danielito Dollete for being the first Filipino graduate student to study in the University of Alberta under the Collaborative Agreement on Graduate Scholarship Program Between the Department of Science and Technology – Science and Education Institute (DOST-SEI) and the University of Alberta (UAlberta).
The agreement, signed in March 2019, allows DOST-SEI scholars to pursue thesis-based doctoral and master’s programs in UAlberta.
The PCG introduced UAlberta to the DOST-SEI in 2018 as part of its initiative to promote education cooperation between the academic institutions in Alberta and Saskatchewan, which are under the PCG’s jurisdictions, and the Philippine government agencies and universities.
Mr. Dollete comes from Pasig City, Metro Manila, and earned his degree in B.S. Biology from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
He arrived in Edmonton, Alberta, in February 2021 to continue his studies in Master of Science in Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Sciences, and Plant Science in UAlberta. His two-year program started in January 2021 through online classes and will end in 2023. After the program, Mr. Dollete will return to the Philippines where he will apply the knowledge and expertise he will gain from UAlberta.
In his email to Consul General Zaldy Patron, Mr. Dollete thanked the DOST-SEI, UAlberta, and PCG for giving him a once in a lifetime opportunity to become an international student in Canada. Consul General Patron wished him well on his studies in UAlberta. END.
