13 December 2021, Calgary – The new premises of the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary had an official blessing during the recent visit to Calgary of Philippine Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo Robles.
“While the PCG has been in its new office since May 2021, we timed its blessing on 6 December 2021 during the visit of Ambassador Robles,” said Consul General Zaldy Patron.
With a new office that is 2.5 times bigger than its previous office, the PCG now processes more than double the number of passport and non-passport applicants it was processing in its former office.
The new PCG office has a separate consular area and social hall named after Dr. José Rizal, the Philippines’ national hero. The consular area has several cubicles where applicants can transact consular services in privacy with the staff of the PCG.
“Our move to a bigger office is part of the improvements in our systems and operations that we have been gradually implementing since 2018. We have also introduced an online passport application system that allows us to process passport applications in 10-15 minutes,” Consul General Patron remarked.
Ambassador Robles congratulated the PCG for having a new office that he described as “spacious, clean, functional, and professional looking.”
Filipino priest Fr. Edmund Vargas officiated the blessing of the new PCG premises. In attendance were the officers and staff of the PCG and the members of the official delegation of Ambassador Robles, including Madame Nora Robles and Deputy Chief of Mission Francisco Noel Fernandez III.
Following the blessing and the remarks of Consul General Patron and Ambassador Robles, three Filipino-Canadian winners of the Canada Galaxy Pageant serenaded the PCG staff with Christmas carols.
The new PCG office is located at Suite 100 1001 1st St SE Calgary.
