Calgary, 6 September 2023 – The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in
Calgary conducted its second consular outreach for 2023 in Edmonton, Alberta,
on 28 to 31 August 2023.
A total of 882
services were rendered during the three-and-a-half-day mission: 240 Philippine
passports were processed, 372 documents were consularized, and 13 civil
registry reports and 16 dual citizenship applications were accepted.
In addition, there were 109 former
Filipinos and their dependents who took their oath to re-acquire their
Philippine citizenship under Republic Act 9225.
The PCG also registered 17
overseas voters, as part of its ongoing overseas voter registration.
The Social Security System in Calgary also rendered 115 transactions during the same mission.

The PCG’s consular outreach mission was greatly enhanced by the presence of various not-for-profit organizations based in Edmonton, namely the Multicultural Health Brokers, Catholic Social Service, Edmonton Zonal Outreach, and the Filipino-Canadian Saranay Foundation. The PCG’s clients were informed of the free social services they could receive from these organizations.
At the same time, two (2) Filipino-Canadian
lawyers, Mr. Joseph Angeles and Mr. Pete Recto, volunteered to provide legal
information to the PCG’s clients.
“I wish to express my appreciation to all the
not-for-profit organizations and volunteer lawyers who partnered with us in
providing social services to our fellow Filipinos during our consular outreach
mission in Edmonton,” said Consul General Zaldy Patron.
Likewise, the PCG also organized the “Manila
Comes to Town” Food Truck Festival on 30 August 2023 to coincide with the
consular outreach mission.
