Escapade 5 (WE5) for members of the
Filipino community in Alberta with a merienda
held at the Consulate’s premises on 21 August 2017. Around 40 leaders of the Filipino communities
of Calgary and Edmonton attended the launching, which was also attended by Mrs.
Alejandra “Dading” Clemente, Chairperson of Rajah Tours.
Consul Eric Aquino welcomed the attendees
to the launch and provided general information about the forthcoming tour such
as the dates, the destinations, and the tour features and inclusions. Consul General Julius D. Torres provided
further details about what participants could expect from the tour, relating
his experiences during the previous tour.
He also encouraged the attendees to tell their Canadian friends about
the tour, as it is not limited to Filipino-Canadians only and provides
excellent value for money for “snowbirds” looking to escape at least part of
the Canadian winter.
WE5 will be held from 3 to 11 February 2018
and will feature trips to 10 destinations in Manila, Bacolod and Davao
City. The annual Winter Escapade tour is
an ongoing project of the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of
Tourism and the Tourism Promotions Board to promote tourism to the different
areas of the Philippines among Filipino-Canadians.
After the presentation, Mrs. Clemente
answered the attendees’ questions about the cost of the tour and other
administrative arrangements such as the deadlines for placement of deposits and
final payment. The deadline for
reserving slots for Winter Escapade 5 is on 15 September 2017, with full
payment due on 15 October 2017. Mrs.
Clemente also announced that payments for the tour will be accepted at branches
of iRemit in Calgary and Edmonton.
