“We are proud to host the Malaya Art Exhibition
and feature these six creative Filipino artists as a way of celebrating the
Philippine Heritage Month in Canada this month and the 125th Anniversary of the
Declaration of Philippine Independence on 12 June,” Consul General Patron
remarked.
Seventy-five guests from the Filipino community
and Calgary’s artist community joined the reception.
“Malaya” is the second art exhibition that the
PCG has hosted as part of its cultural diplomacy program.
Last year, the PCG featured Mr. Pepito Escanlar
and Mr. Patrick Fernandez of Regina, Saskatchewan, in “Ala-Ala” (Memories) Art
Exhibition, which was also held at the PCG’s Rizal Hall from 23 September to 19
October 2022.
“Through these art exhibitions, we are able to
introduce our Filipino artists to a wider audience and elevate their stature in
our community,” said Consul General Patron.
