Calgary, 1 June 2023 – The 2nd Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada (FRMC) that was successfully held in April 2023 Canada to promote Filipino cuisine across Canada and received higher media mileage.
Consul General Zaldy Patron shared that during the two months of promoting the 2nd FRMC from March to April 2023, the FRMC generated over 66 million media impressions and nearly $4 million in total media ad value.
These figures were higher than the 53 million media impressions and $2.9 million total media value that the inaugural FRMC produced last year. e are pleased with the outcome of the 2nd FRMC this year. With the higher media mileage it generated, we were able to significantly increase the public’s awareness of and appreciation for the Filipino cuisine across Canada” Consul General Patron said.
Consul General Patron added that the various promotions for the 2nd FRMC attracted more diners to visit the 47 participating restaurants in 19 cities and eight provinces in Canada during the whole month of April. These, in turn, brought more businesses to the Filipino restaurants.
One of the highlights of the 2nd FRMC was the
electronic raffle held in May 2023 as each order of the FRMC prix fixe menu
entitled the diners to electronic raffle entries.
There were 34 winners of national prizes and 107 winners of local prizes.
The national prizes include two (2) round trip plane tickets from Manila to anywhere in the Philippines courtesy of the Philippine Airlines; one (1) $500 travel voucher from Fly Friendly Travel for travel to the Philippines; five (5) 3D/2N hotel accommodations in Astoria Palawan, Discovery Club Paradise Palawan, and Savoy Hotels in Boracay, Mactan and Tagaytay; a culinary tour in the Philippines for two; twenty (20) $50 worth of remittance fee credit from IRemit; and five (5) $100 gift certificates from Seafood City.
The local
prizes were in the form of dining vouchers given by the 47 participating
restaurants.
The list of winners of national prizes can
be found on the FRMC website. The 107 winners of local
prizes will be notified by letters.
The FRMC is a joint project of the
Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, the Philippine Consulates General in Calgary,
Toronto, and Vancouver, the Philippine Department of Tourism – San Francisco,
and the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry.
