The PCG immediately started sorting, recording, and stamping the ballots and mailed the first 1,000 ballots on 8 April 2022. The PCG will mail the ballots on weekdays until all ballots have been mailed.

Calgary, 9 April 2022 – The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary has started mailing the election ballots of the 16,524 registered overseas voters under its consular jurisdiction.

The first 1,000 ballots were mailed yesterday, 8 April 2022, after the PCG received the shipment of ballots from COMELEC the day before.

The PCG has to sort, record, stamp, and insert the ballots in envelopes before mailing them to the registered overseas voters.

Included in the mail is a stamped return envelope that an overseas voter will use to send the ballot to the PCG. The overseas voter can also personally deliver to the PCG the accomplished ballot.

“The PCG personnel will work over the weekends and during holidays so we can mail as soon as possible all the 16,524 ballots that we received from COMELEC on 7 April,” said Consul General Zaldy Patron.

“I strongly encourage our registered overseas voters to immediately accomplish their ballots as soon as they receive them and mail or personally deliver them to us,” he added.

The PCG will only count the ballots that will be received by mail on or before 6 May, Friday, and the ballots personally delivered to the PCG office on or before 9 May, Monday, 5:00 a.m. The counting of ballots will start on 9 May 2022 at 5:00 a.m. simultaneous with the counting of ballots in the Philippines.

The period for the overseas voting for the 2022 Philippine National Elections is from 10 April to 9 May 2022. END
