23 September 2019, Calgary – Consul
General Zaldy Patron congratulated Jollibee Foods Corporation on the opening of
its first Jollibee store in Calgary, Alberta on 19 September 2019.
“It is with so much pride that I
welcome the opening of Jollibee, a prestigious Filipino fast food brand, here
in Calgary. This certainly brings joy to
the 75,000 Filipino in Calgary and those in nearby areas who can now enjoy the
popular Jollibee foods. We hope that the many Calgarians will also love these
Jollibee products,” Consul General Patron said.
Represented by Consul Pamela
Durian-Bailon during the opening ceremony, Consul General Patron noted the
increasing investments of Filipino-owned businesses in the province which make
them employers or providers of jobs for the Albertans.
The Jollibee branch in Calgary is the second investment of Jollibee Foods Corporation in Alberta, following the opening of its first branch in the city of Edmonton on 16 August 2019. The Philippine company plans to open 100 stores across Canada in five (5) years, which will translate to more than 15,000 jobs.
Jollibee operates over four thousand
stores in 20 countries in Asia, North America, and Europe. The Calgary branch,
located at the Pacific Place Mall in Northeast Calgary, is the 7th
Jollibee store in Canada and the 44th in North America.
The opening ceremony was graced by
officials from the Pacific Place Mall, Center for Newcomers (CNA), Filipino
community leaders, and distinguished guests.
