15 May 2017 – Consul General Julius D. Torres led a
Consulate team on an outreach mission to Lethbridge, Alberta from 12 to 14 May
2017, providing passport and notarial services to more than 100 Filipinos in
the city and surrounding areas.
The
outreach mission, held at the Coast Lethbridge Hotel, was organized in
cooperation with the Filipino-Canadian Association of Lethbridge headed by its
President, Ms. Linda Helwig.
During
the two-day outreach, the Consulate was able to render 132 consular services
comprised of 123 passport applications, seven notarial services and two civil
registrations.
Lethbridge is the largest city in southern Alberta and the province’s fourth-largest city (after Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer). Most of the Filipinos there are employed as workers in farms around the area although a significant number are also in the services sector such as caregivers.
