Calgary, 6 June 2022 – During their virtual meeting on 31 May 2022, Consul General Zaldy Patron briefed Alberta Minister of Health Jason Copping about the developments on the advocacy of the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary for the easier and expeditious recognition of credentials of the Filipino nurses in Alberta.
Consul General Patron shared with Minister Copping the outcomes of the meetings he had with the National Nursing Assessment Services, College of Registered Nurses of Alberta, and the Calgary-based Mount Royal University to explore ways how to help Filipino nurses practice their profession in Alberta.
Consul General Patron and Minister Copping agreed to continue their discussion on the matter, which may also involve other stakeholders in Alberta and the Philippines.
“My discussion with Consul General Patron was very welcomed. We both acknowledge the highly valuable contribution the Filipino community provides in Alberta’s health care system and I am looking forward to future conversations on how we can facilitate more involvement of Filipino health care workers throughout the province,” Minister Copping said about the meeting.
On his part, Consul General Patron remarked, “I truly appreciate Minister Copping’s openness to our proposals that aim to help Filipino nurses, who are graduates from the Philippines, reach their full human potentials in Alberta.” END
