20 July 2020, Calgary – Consul General to Calgary Zaldy Patron welcomed
Seafood City Supermarket’s latest investments in the Canadian
province of Alberta by gracing the opening of its store in Edmonton,
Alberta, on 16 July 2020.
Seafood City in Edmonton is the company’s second
branch in Alberta following the opening of its Calgary branch on 20 February
2020, whose grand opening Consul General Patron also attended.
Seafood City is the
biggest Filipino chain of grocerant (grocery and fast food restaurants) in the
U.S. It now has four stores in Canada.
In his remarks at the
store’s opening, Consul
General Patron said that Seafood
City’s presence in Edmonton would benefit the local economy amid the COIVD-19
pandemic because it would provide employment for Edmontonians and support the
local businesses in the city. Further, he noted that it would also enhance
Philippine exports since Seafood City sells various goods and products that are
made in the Philippines.
Consul General Patron
urged the Filipino-Canadians to support Seafood City as well as the other Filipino
restaurants and businesses in Edmonton.
