25 January 2021, Calgary – The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Calgary began 2021 by conducting extra consular services on two Saturdays for the first month of the year.

The PCG opened its office on the two weekends of 16 January and 23 January to process 43 passport applications and to administer the oath of Philippine citizenship under RA 9225 to 56 applicants.

Consul General Zaldy Patron said that the PCG conducted these two weekend consular services as a continuation of what it started in July 2020. 

Since the start of the pandemic last year and the implementation of various public health measures by the government of Alberta, the PCG has been constrained from accepting a big number of in-person applicants. It has also postponed its regular consular outreach missions. 

“To compensate for the reduced number of our daily applicants and the lack of consular outreach missions due to the pandemic and the public health measures in place, we are continuing our two Saturday consular services per month until such time that we are able to accommodate more in-person applicants again,” said Consul General Zaldy Patron.
