13 January 2018 -- The
Philippine Consulate General in Calgary held its first Saturday consular
service on 13 January 2018, serving a total of 78 clients who came for passport
renewal, legalization of documents, and oathtaking for dual citizenship.

Julius Torres administered the oath to 42 dual citizenship applicants, the
largest mass oathtaking at the Consulate since it opened in 2016.

Torres said that “the Consulate opens its doors at least one Saturday a month during
winter as part of efforts to provide service to more Filipinos in Alberta and
Saskatchewan.”
He added that
Filipino Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) are now able to transact business at
the Consulate without having to file a leave from work during weekdays. With
the fixed schedule of the Saturday service, clients can plan their visit to the
Consulate ahead of time.
The Saturday consular service is scheduled every second Saturday of the month. Saturday consular service for the first three months and the last two months of the year will be at the Consulate. On other weekends, Calgary PCG will be having mobile consular outreach service in various areas outside of Calgary.
