11 June 2018, Calgary - Officials of the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary and the Trade Office of the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto recently held activities that will open more investment and trade opportunities between the Philippines and the Province of Alberta, Canada.
On 6 June, the two offices held a
briefing for the Filipino-Canadian business groups at the office of the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary
wherein Senior Trade Commissioner Maria Roseni Alvero of the Philippine
Consulate General in Toronto discussed the status of PH-Canada economic
relations and PH's priority industry sectors where foreign
investments are being encouraged.
Ms.
Alvero also informed the guests about the joint project of the
Department of
Trade and
Industry (DTI) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region IV to put
up makapuno production and
other agri-business ventures in Alabat, Quezon province. According to Ms. Alvero, overseas Filipinos in Canada
can invest in this investment project in Alabat once project details are finalized.
The
following day, Consul General Gilberto Asuque, Deputy Consul General Zaldy Patron and Ms. Alvero held separate meetings with Mr.
Bruce Leslie, Vice
President of
Trade and Investment Attraction, Calgary Economic Development (CED), and with Mr. Victor Lee, Director of Trade and Investment, Ministry of Economic Development
and Trade of Alberta (MEDT).
